Zigbee Water Moisture Content

I've picked up a Zigbee Water Moisture Content Sensor on AliExpress (Tuya model), and got it set up in HA via ZHA. It connects and seems to work, however, the only two entities are Temperature and Humidity. Temperature started presenting readings right away. Humidity read as 0% for a couple days until I actually put it in the soil outside, and it's now reading a % (currently 23%). Should I take this to mean, it's actually reading the moisture content % in the Soil, or is this just not a very good device of this purpose?

I'll try it in a cup of water to measure what a 100% humidity looks like in the sensor. That said, a cheap sensor is not meant to be used in critical places, or the readings must be treated with a pinch of salt 😅
