i'm trying to switch my voice preview device from whisper to speech-to-phrase addon. i've updated the voice preview firmware via espn32home and i'm running HA on a raspberry pi 4. i've installed the addon and rebooted, it looks good from the logs. but whisper does not add it automatically (as the docs indicate), and if i try to add it manually to whisper (via putting 127.0.0.1 and 10300 port into the popup) i see a spinner for a while but then says failed to connect.

@hushed spade can you tell me where exactly i get that container name? i don't see if i go to settings > add-ons

also, i see a 1.4.0 update just landed for speech-to-phrase. should i update first?

In version 1.4, the developers added many new languages.

@hushed spade unfortunately, the same error occurs with that hostname.

to confirm the flow: from the speech-to-phrase documentation page (/hassio/addon/core_speech-to-phrase/documentation), i am clicking the blue Add Integration to My button. it redirects to the integrations dashboard and pops up a 'Do you want to connect to Wyoming Protocol?'. i hit ok. i briefly see a modal with a different UI (something about Brand?) then quickly replaced with a modal that says Wyoming Protocol with two inputs: Host and Port. I put 5c53de3b-esphome for Host and 10300 for port. spinner spins, but ultimately shows Failed to connect. all of my HA is up to date to latest. i am accessing via Firefox to a custom domain where HA runs through a Cloudlfare Tunnel.

should i have an ESPHome Device Builder addon? it shows as that in addons, but as ESPHome in integrations.

No, you don't need to use 5c53de3b-esphome. This example just shows the location of the name (I don't have speech-to-phrase to show you an example.). Open the speech-to-phrase add-on and use the data from there.
