Hi to all of you creating, maintaining and developing my favorite homecontrollersoftware ๐
Is it possible to install the 8mb version of the VoicePE software on my RespeakerLite?
If so, how? And would it then be possible to make an installer like you did for the voicePE, autodetecting RAM on device?
I have soldered the pins like FormatBCE says on his respeaker/koala rep, do i need to UNsolder them to make it work?
Thanks in advance! Keep it up.
#8mb VoicePE on RespeakerLite ?

I think that the respeaker needs its own firmware as there are some hardware differences. the board type is configured in the board config part of the esphome config. I believe that the respeaker is mostly based on the VPE firmware functionality wise.
not sure what you have soldered?
maybe @haughty herald (hope you don't mind the ping) can jump in though and maybe understand a bit more than i do about the specifics.
Solder USR to D2 and MUTE to D3 pins. ATTENTION! This step is mandatory, as without it the buttons on satellite won't work as intended.
Now just use my config ๐
i did succesfully for months now, just wondering if it was possible
VPE has completely different hardware in DFU part
So it needs custom component from my repo (respeaker_lite)
Won't fly without that
crystal clear, will go on with yours then
It's heavily based on VPE and has same features (and more :))
thanks to both of you for quick reply!
NP! Good luck with your Respeaker!
are you all set up for response streaming?
Dont know, think FormatBCE can answer..
yeah i was directing at him ๐
ran respeakerlite with repo from him
its a new thing coming where large responses can start sending the tts before its fully computed. so it increases responsiveness
the VPE's got a firmware update getting them ready. 2025.7 is gunna be pretty awesome for ai assistants
did update voicepe this morning, no problems. running google generative AI
I got a bunch of different VA's to mess with. its gunna be awesome. i am tempted to run the beta on my production setup but if something breaks people will be mad at me ๐
Yeah, i guess LOL
So i should have asked the other way around.. install respeakerlite/koala on voicePE ๐ LOL Back online with your repo
You want features that aren't there?
No, i am fully satisfied!
Okay, glad to hear it ๐
Have no idea yet. I'm watching closely the VPE repo, and have everything they have - so if VPE can stream TTS, Respeaker can too ๐
Curious if Wyoming satellite is ready. I would assume so, coming from method of sound delivery (direct stream).
Probably worth trying beta on some VM
Purely for streaming
cool, its probably upstream in the components to be fair
So it's ESPHome version that makes it compatible. Alrighty then. ๐
i would think so, although I am not totally sure
