Hey guys and gals 🙂

Finally getting closer to closing on our house and the switches are a bit "dated"...
Looking to update / upgrade to make life easier and looked around to see a lot of "generated" videos and everything that had some information and weight on decision making is now a few years old and assume that there is something newer / better out there, but at the same time id like to hear from you guys what your using and what your luck has been.
So please feel free to chime in with the pros and cons of your setup 🙂

Hi,

It really depends on where you are geographically located.

For the NA and US, I personally can recommend Lutron, Inovelli, and Zooz.

For my Zigbee lights, with direct bindings and smart bulb mode, I love Inovelli Blue Series. for my dumb bulbs and incredible reliability, I have used Lutron. and for top notch ZWave, I’ve had Zooz.

However for other parts of the world with different voltage, it’s completely different

I’ve had similar questions. Thanks @arctic cloud. In your opinion, what’s the main difference regarding how you decide between Lutron and Zooz then?

For the Lutron, you needs their hub, because they have a proprietary protocol called Clear Connect. Runs on its own (sub)frequency.

If you already have a ZWave network/stick and/or don’t want another hub, then Zooz works great. And ZWave encompasses more types/classes of devices in addition to lights/switches. Lutron is primarily lights. (And blinds/shades)

Also to consider is what types of switches you’ll be wanting to replace. Single pole installations vs three/four way etc. and if you have a neutral in your switch box.

Feels silly/obvious to say though is that if you’re in any doubt as to what you’re doing, please hire an electrician.

That’s my take on deciding, haha
