#wake word detection not working

i followed this video exactly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvbVePuP7NY&t=501s

Everything is installed, debugging is working, i verified the microphone is working with another computer, nothing i do will get the home assistant to respond to any of the wake word options. I also noticed when trying to troubleshoot the buttons in the screeenshot are greyed out, not sure if that indicates something. If there is something you'd like to know/see just let me know.

Im using a Raspberry Pi 5 8gb with a USB Sound card attached to it. that it does let me choose as an option for Speaker Source & Microphone Source

Im just trying to get a proof of concept working and this video seemed like the easiest point of entry

I have a main Home Assistant server, i can easily make this Pi a satelitte instead, but the video walk throughs i have found for that process were a bit more complex, do you have one you recommend?

Currently the best approach is to use esp32s3 based satellite with XMOS powered mic array
