#Piper Crashing Issues

Hi!

I am having issues with Piper crashing four or five times a day. While generally it's fine, it's enough to cause inconsistencies with my VPE responses and some voice announcements I have configured around the house. I am not seeing any helpful log messages either from the addon logs or the main core logs which would indicate what is happening.

I am running home assistant on a VM with 4 GB ram assigned to it and 4 cores. The VM is running off of an SSD. The host machine is running an i5-12600K with 32 GB of ram (at about 60% utilization). I am struggling to find documented system requirements which may indicate it's a resource issue. I am running Piper 1.5.4 and Core 2025.6.2 using the en_US-amy-low voice.

I'd greatly appreciate any insights from anyone as to what may be the cause.

Did you use debug mode? Maybe there will be some useful information there.

the only debug log I ever get is: DEBUG:wyoming_piper.handler:Sent info

which doesn't tell me a whole lot unfortunately

It looks like there is no connection if you don't see any action when you start voice synthesis.
What type of installation are you using and where are you running Piper?
You can also update to 1.61.
System requirements for Piper very low
