Block network for kids devices in Unifi | Home Assistant | Page 1

I'm trying to set up rules to turn off internet/network access to my kids laptops/desktops and automate them turning on/off in HA. I know how to do this but when I turn the internet/network back on for the device after it's been down for awhile, the devices never connects back up. Any ideas?

some devices go "OMG THIS NETWORK DOESNT HAVE INTERNET, ITS NOT REAL I MUST DISCONNECT" and you have to battle with it to stay connected

That's what I've been doing for the last two days. I wonder if I don't leave the block on for almost a day and everything might be ok?

you could maybe have the kids on a seperate ssid which you can turn on/off or have 2 ssid's for lan-only and wan-enabled. then switch them on/off and the devices set to connect to both will jump over

depending on your equipment setup this might be doable?
