#New to HA!! We made a small IoT-compatible humidifier — programmable, battery-powered, and open sour

Hey Fellow Home Assistant Crowd,

We’re developing a compact, low-power ultrasonic humidifier that is programmable and potentially easy to integrate into home automation systems. It could run on a rechargeable LiPo or USB-C and uses an ESP32 (XIAO form factor). Currently, we are using easily findable plastic food containers as the water container, but this PCB could easily be done for any more visually pleasing design.

Please note that: we are working on the code to integrate it into the home assistance environment more seamlessly. As of now, it requires users' customization to be included in the HA app.

Earlier this month, we ran a hands-on workshop with 19 builders — 100% completed their device, and 90% said they’d use it again or expand it for their own project. We got the recommendation from the Open Source Hardware Community to ask for some feedback in this community!!

Long story short, we’re preparing a Crowd Supply launch and would love your thoughts before finalizing the product for our launch:

Would this be something that you think might be useful for your home?
Would you want more slick/finished enclosure designs in order to place this in your home?
What kind of support would you find useful if you have this in your home? e.g. HA software integration, alternative enclosure design, programming support, etc
What other sensors/features do you usually find useful with the use case of this board?
Any name suggestions?

We’d love to co-design this next stage with folks here. Open to feedback, feature requests, use cases, and beyond! Please don't hesitate to reach out.

My personal opinion: don't use CrowdSupply.
We (the community) have had so many problems with them, when the HA Yellow was developed.
Bad communications, delayed shipments, accepting more orders than stock available (and not informing the customer), shipping mistakes (resulting in customs issues),...

Woah! Thank you for the insight.

Not really. You might want to try to contact the people at Nabu Casa. They had some hardware releases and might have some tipps for you.
