#Wired Temperature Sensor Recommendations?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
most zigbee temp sensors are going to be battery powered due to their nature. your more likely to see externally powered on the wifi side of thiings. although you can probably find something with a usb connector on or even maybe modify one to use a dc supply.
Makes sense. Any recommendations on the wifi/usb connetor front?
whats the use case? are you just looking at room temps?
Yeah, I'm looking for a room temp to turn on my window AC when it goes above a certain temperature
My AC unit has this functionality, but there's a huge delay. It'll go from 70f to 85f before it kicks in.
if you can have an excuse to get some multisensors you can do other cool things too 😛
I'm using the thirdreality zigbee temperature and humidity sensors, and their update time seems to be dynamic - in my logs, i have see them reporting about every 1-2 minutes when the temperature is changing quickly. That has been fast enough for me for controlling my AC system.
(in my case, i have a portable AC unit with an integration that lets me control the thermostat from HA, so I've built an automation that lets me use the zigbee temperature sensor effectively as a "remote" sensor for the AC unit by calculating an offset to apply to the AC unit's own thermostat)
