I have a House (build from Brick) and a Garage (build from wood) in a dissents of 2meters (6.5 feed).. I do have Ethernet cables to the garage.
For Zigbee in the house I use a SkyConnect, and the grid in the house is fine in the corner facing the garage.. But no matter What I try I can't pick it up over in the garage..
Any one got an IDEer ??

zigbee is mesh using devices that are also routers so if you put devices that are routers at the closest point to eacch other of the buildings they should bridge
as a general rule, stuff thats plugged in to power is probably a router. whereas battery powered stuff (like basic sensors) are not routers

I have done tests with Some Silver Crest Plug's (from Lidl) in the to corners facing each other NO luck... IF the to are in the same room (in the house) they mesh fine

the new gen4 shelly relays support zigbee, if you have a purpose for installing them in correct places they might work
might end up being a bit of trial and error i guess

ther is no way of using the Ethernet for zigbee tranport ? with out it becomming a new network with is own broker (ZHA / mqtt-zigbee)

ah you used skyconnect. so its plugged into your ha server so i assume not
was thinking if the coordinator was poe then could put it at the gap then expand the mesh from there on both sides

I Think the "easy" way will be to put up a outdore light with Zigbee on the garage and hope for the best 🙂

yeah, that seems like a reasnable option. you can buy some various zigbee stuff that you think you will be able to find a use for anyway and see if anything works

i dont really know anything about them though. but i am sure theres any number of videos etc... on the subject

2 sonoff usb sticks flashed with router firmware instead of coordinator? a plastic enclosure and a usb cable through a wall for power.
should give nice coverage for outdoor sensors like soil moisture as well.
you would still need to get coverage from each of those to inside the building. place them near some indoor router.
or maybe just one of those sticks is enough. on the brick house. the outdoor light should be enough at the garage end
