Do I just buy this stick, a usb extension cord and install the appropriate software in Home Assistant? Or is there something more to it?

in theory yes, but i think those are on the list that have a strange usb compliancy issue. that can be worked around but using a usb hub between your server and the stick
I would not buy a Z-Wave.me at this time. The company was purchased and is winding down. There are a number of options listed at https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/z-wave/controllers/
Options depend on your location.
I just need something thats quite local, here they have the zwave usb stick. Im in the czech republic. I own a Fibaro Home Center Lite though, which I dont use but reading the docs seems like I can put it to work.
It's going to get one step messier but whatever I guess, no need to buy anything
EU is tougher. Stay away from Aeotec Z-Stick 7.
What about gen5
depending on urgency, the nabu casa one will probably appear in the coming months
the sky connect zbt1 is nabu casa right
The Z-Wave.me is good in EU. If you don't mind the company being purchased. They are still supporting warranty. https://forum.z-wave.me/viewtopic.php?f=3417&t=36140
sky connect is Zigbee
yeah i know, i just mean that nabu casa will release something very similair for z wave by what you said?
I guess my move is setup the fibaro home center for the 2 zwave devices i own lol and wait till the zwa-2 releases
Z-wave.me Z-Station -> HomeSeer G8 -> Zooz ZST39 would be the top picks in EU
Problem is shipping for the last 2
yes but there is no specific timeline on it
yeah im not planning on adding any zwave devices anyway rn, so like if it releases like 2 years from now ill just replace it to make it sleeker and the whole setup more compact and thats it
If you can find an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 cheap, that would work fine
