#Z-Wave de-association\re-association?

Looking to understand the correct process for ZWave devices. One of my Leviton ZWave swithces decided to become unavailable in HA. Looking to understand the following questions.

  1. Why did this happen? What does this mean?
  2. This happened before like 6 months ago and IIRC i just performed a ZWave de-association call and then re-associated it again like it was new and reconfigured it again in HA.
  3. Do you have to perform a de-association on a device in this situation in order to just re-associate it? Can i just go perform a re-association directly?

I haven't used Z-Wave myself yet, but I've been researching it so I can build a device. From what I can tell, you do need to de-associate first so the device is in the correct mode for pairing. Otherwise you'd need to have a way to factory reset the device.
