#Local Smart Sprinkler Systems

I'm looking for a smart sprinkler system to replace a very old system. My contractor recommended the Hunter HC Pro, and I've got friends who use Rachio, but I was hoping to get something which has a local option and doesn't rely on a cloud service.

Looking here, it seems like local options are Rain Machine (which lists all their controllers as "Deprecated" on their website), WiLight (which doesn't seem to be in English), RainBird (which might not work any more because the latest firmware requires cloud usage), and Yardian (which I can't find much information about).

Yardian seems promising, but lack of information (and reviews) makes me skeptical. Are any of those decent options? Is there something I'm overlooking? I'm really hoping my best option isn't to fall back to a cloud service.

I'd consider it... I assume it's mostly applying power to right zones when you need it

#

And when it's not powered it's closed

couple of examples here and here
esphome has a Sprinkler Controller component built in and has documentation

i am sure there are various other write ups and/or videos

#

as its esphome it integrates easily with HA and is local only. but it depends if you want to go that route or not i guess

Seems like it would likely be the most cost effective

if you go custom esphome then its worth dropping into esphome discord too. if you have any specific questions on that side - https://discord.gg/QSX7E8P3
