So I have an Atom Echo that I have set the microwakeword to "Hey Jarvis" and it has worked fine for months.
However, after updating it to 2025.5.1 in ESPHome it no longer responds.
The device is still recognized, and the diagnostic button is also recognized.
Is my next step just to re-flash it in ESPHome builder?

have you customised the firmware or just using it "stock"?
if your using it stock then deleting it from builder tool and the integration and reinstalling it from the esphome ready-made project page is a great way to reset it.
the voice components have changed quite a bit recently so if you have an older version of the config it will likely have issues now.

latest version has the 3 wake words on it and you can set it in the UI, just like on the VPE

I'll have to go look then, I guess. Because when I originally set it up, it was hard coded to respond to hey nabu. Only problem is, my hick accent can't say that word well enough to be understood with any regularity. 😂

yeah the custom components that made it possible on the VPE got upstreamed into mainline ESPHome in 2025.5 so its not needed to customise the firmware anymore

One of our buildings has some remodeling work, and they broke the fire alarm system. So my department is doing fire watch rotations. And tonight is my lucky night.

So, I didn't even need to reflesh. I just went through and set it up again in Home Assistant, and it's back to working as it should.
