#ZBT-1 failed to be configured, now not recognized

Have you tried rebooting the system, as in, shut down, plug in, turn back on again?
Also how do you run home assistant
On a rasp4. After rebooting (like actually rebooting the pi itself, not just HA) I get a new error (progress !)
@lean sorrel Sorry, I don't know if I need to ping you ?
Are you using HAOS and the OpenThread Border Router add-on?
If the add-on fails to flash the Thread firmware (shown in the add-on logs), look if the ZBT-1 is used by ZHA for example. If so, remove the integration. Another option would be to use the webflasher to flash the Thread firmware.
I can't remove ZHA, I'm using it. And I'd rather return the product and get something else then start fucking around for hours trying to flash firmwares and other shenanigans.
If you are using ZHA, it shouldn't use the ZBT-1.
As you wish.
I'm not sure what you mean with this sentence ?
And I just tried to install OpenThread Border Router on HA and it's asking for a url. What should I give it ?
If ZHA has already been running, it is already using its own radio and doesn't "conquer" the ZBT-1.
You are likely trying to set up the OTBR integration. You need to set up the add-on first.
When that is running, the integration will be autodiscovered.
Assuming you are using HAOS.
Seems like the addon installed itself when I tried to configure the ZBT-1, but didn't start despite having start on boot enabled ? This is strange since HA sees the ZBT-1 as a new device and asks me to configure it
But alright now that it's start I seem to have a Thread network
Okay so the server and the router are two different things or... ?
The OTBR is just providing the network. Matter is the protocol using the OTBR network or WiFi/LAN.
Yep
And the Matter server provides the Matter functionality.
And that server can communicate via the usual network or via the Thread network.
What purpose does the router serve then ? Just a bridge between the hardware and the software ?
The router provides the Thread network.
But no server
Without the OTBR or one of the other Thread providers (like Google or Apple), the Matter server can just communicate with network devices.
Okay, understood, that makes sense
No Matter server, correct. Just the Thread communication.
Matter is the language, Thread and WiFi are the communication lines used to talk.
But is so unclear. Like, I've got 2 integrations, 2 add-ons and a physical device needed to make this work. There's no way this ever goes mainstream lmao
The other smart home players hide it better. They also need a radio (which is built in, so you don't see it) and the software (you just don't have to set up yourself).
Bruh 😭
