I used Alexa Guard in a very narrow way - basically to trigger the 'away mode' lighting, and I had some routines that would be disabled when guard mode was armed, and enabled when guard mode was disarmed. I do see some home/away modes now in the Alexa app, which appear to be a drop-in replacement for what I was doing with guard mode - but I don't see where this is exposed in AMP anywhere. Is this not available yet, or is there something I need to do to enable it? I couldn't find anything in the AMP documentation related to this either.
#Alexa Guard Dead - Home/Away Mode?

As I recall, it became part of a paid tier of 'security' system
An attempt by Amazon to further monetize Alexa
Correct, it's now Emergency Assist or something like that
I don't want to pay for that, I really wasn't using Guard as it was originally intended anyway - like I said, just home/away basically... which now there are these 'modes' in the Alexa app for home/away. I just want to know how to access those modes in AMP
Bump - I'm not referring to the 'security' system, I'm referring to the home/away modes in Alexa that allow you to run routines when triggering home/away. I used to do this with Guard and it worked great, now I need to transition to these 'modes' in Alexa but I don't see those exposed in AMP
I don't think you can see them with AMP
That was my conclusion as well, I'll look through the issues and see if this is already open. If not I'll open one
it may just not be possible
That would be surprising, considering how Guard was supported very well, for a long time, and basically did the same thing as these new modes do with some added "security" features
I get that it's new though so it may not be supported yet. Issues can also be feature requests
2025.6 will have a new core integration that will basically wipe out AMP I imagine anyway
you can throw an issue into amp if you like but alot of stuff is likely to change in the near future
So AMP won't be needed or you're saying AMP won't work and Alexa integrations will be dead...? That would suck.
there is a core new integration coming "amazon devices" which will basically replace AMP
Interesting. Anything I can read up on ?
beta documentation (incomplete at this point) - https://rc.home-assistant.io/integrations/amazon_devices
Cool, thanks. I like to try to get ahead of stuff if possible.
i imagine most people will move over to this and it will get some more love than AMP has gotten recently. its basically been in maintainance mode for a while now i think.
Yea definitely has a long way to go to support all the things AMP does.
yeah, it does quite a bit already with more stuff being added. the documentation as i said is incomplete though. you can check out the PRs if you want to
@nocturne jungle I spoke with new integrations dev about the above home/away thing:
"Ask them if the Alexa App can set this on the device; if so it should be douable by the integration, if it's not in the app but it's a skill or something else then it won't."
It's in the app. I'll get a screenshot
If you click the house icon in the top right of the home screen in the Alexa app you will get this screen. Gear icon takes you to the first screenshot
is that specifically attached to the device though or an account wide thing?
