I have 2 garages with lift master security+ 1.0 openers from the 00s. I installed a RATGDO v2.5 on each one about a year ago following the directions of the RATGDO dev Paul. His directions say that I may need to upgrade the liftmaster wall buttons to 889LM in order for the whole system to function properly, but mine were working without an 889LM so I didn't bother.
Over the last year, the functionality of the remote openers in our cars has deteriorated (for lack of a better term). It started with my jeep. I can almost never operate the garage with the button in my jeep when I first go out to the vehicle. It's unresponsive (even when the jeep is parked directly in front of the door). However once I've been driving the car a bit, the button functions normally for both opening and closing the garage door.
My wife's old Acura rdx seemingly never had any issues with operating the door. But we recently upgraded her to a 2025 kia carnival, and that is now having issues like my jeep.
I decided to upgrade one of the panels to the 889LM per the dev, but this hasn't fixed the issue at all.
As for the network, the RATGDO are wifi devices. I have a dual band mesh network at my home with a node in the master bedroom closet directly above the garage, so signal strength is very strong in the garage and still fairly strong in the driveway too. It's also worth noting that I have 2 additional zigbee- based wall buttons in the garage that are used to control the doors, and those work perfectly fine. The hardwired wall buttons also never present any operational issues. It's just the buttons in the cars that are problematic.
I'm trying to get to the bottom of what could be causing this problem, so I'm hoping someone here has some guidance to help me. I can't find any way to contact the dev for tech support on his device, so I have to rely on the home assistant community for support.
