New to HA, just got it set up yesterday and having a lot of fun. We have a collection of zigbee and cheap 2.4ghz bulbs that I've gotten into HA via zigbee2mqtt and Tuya, respectively. We used to be able to control our lights by saying "Hey Google" and one of the Google devices throughout the house would respond. I'd like to restore that functionality (Alexa integration is also an option).

I found this site https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_assistant/ but I'm reading that Google has already sunset the application used in this article. Can anyone confirm if this still works, and I need to move forward with registering a domain and getting an SSL cert?

You can expose HA devices to Google/Alexa easily with NabuCasa subscription. It will provide remote access to your HA (which is required by both platforms) and set up the integration in one click. Then you go and expose devices you need with one click. I'd say, if you really need to expose your home to Google, it's best way to do it.

Ok. Can you confirm if the above method still works, and if I need to move forward with registering a domain and getting an SSL cert?
