Return To Grid Calculation

I'm using the Energy dashboard with a monitoring system on the inbound power on the two phases (US). Specifically, Emporia Vue 3. I've also got solar, and I'm monitoring the consumed energy off of the inverters on the solar panel.

For the setup of the dashboard, the "Grid Consumption" and "Return to Grid", just have some questions.

When I set the Grid Consumption to the values of phase 1 and 2, it will in fact show negative and positive. I've changed this to template the inbound energy to two new sensors; a "consumed" sensor (which is all the positive values, and anything negative returns a 0), and a "returned" sensor (all the negative values, converted to positive). Is this the right setup?

At the start, I just used the two phases as the consumption, but I was getting readings of negative grid power, and return to grid power, effectively doubling some (but not all) of the readings.

while this is correct for individual devices, this isnt correct for the combination of multiple ones as you will need to do the split by the sum of both
