Hi there, new Home Assistant user here. Trying to prepare my current NAS for a Home Assistant install to collaborate with my HomeKit ecosystem. When HA is installed on my NAS will I need an external connector in order to sync Zigbee/Bluetooth devices, or when it's installed in a NAS does it already have that functionality? I've heard the connectors are pretty hard to come by currently, so if that's the case I might just have to add them natively in homekit until they're easily available.

Yes you need an external Zigbee and/or Bluetooth dongle. I have a Synology Nas with Home Assistant running in a virtual machine. I have zigbee dongle plugged in a USB port at the back. Do not forget to enable the USB port in the virtual machine 🙂
I have a SONOFF ZigBee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus, EFR32MG21 Coördinator
I'd recommend an ethernet one like the SLZB models.
