I have a eufy wifi based lock i've been using for a couple years and for the most part has been fine, but i have been on a quest to get as much local as possible and the lock has been on my list for a long time.

I've done reading on locks but it seems it's hard to find a good one that ticks the right buttons. The main things i'm looking for are.

  1. Can be controlled totally local and prefer z-wave.
  2. Speaking of z-wave, a lock that uses s2 security.
  3. Prefer a fingerprint reader as the one we have has worked well and pretty spoiled at this point with them.
  4. Reliable lock. even if it ticks all the bells if the lock is cheap it defeats the point to me.

I've looked at a few locks but have concerns.

Yale assure 2 pro touch: For some this was the go to, but i hear the z-wave module for them is outdated now and uses S0 security. Not to mention the company is in the middle of a merger and from what i hear alot of people are having issues with support if even existant. If i'm wrong on the modules let me know.

U-Bolt pro: This lock looked promising but i heard HA took it off "Works with Home Assistant" due to support not willing to solve issues with z-wave or updating firmwares etc. It just seems this company burned a lot of people by their practices.

Schlage connect: only reason i haven't decided on this one is i don't see a fingerprint version for any of their z-wave locks which is a bummer because a lot of people say they tend to work nearly flawless.

I'm open to any ideas and the experiences people have had with these locks and if i'm wrong on them.

Should meet all those needs if it’s out

i've thought of nfc but kinda pointless if you have to take your phone out.

#

starting to think there isnt a good option. schlage is starting to sound like the option and i guess i could write an automation to have it unlock when we get home

2 completely different looks but same brand. 2nd looks like a fingerprint reader? but no documentation

#

i bit the bullet on the 2nd one. will report back about it.

#

documentation is so scattered on z-wave locks it's not even funny

Ok lock came in. I was sceptical but so far this thing appears to be the cats a**.

#

One awesome thing i noticed are the blanks are schlage sc1 so i can cut these at work. no weird key blanks that would be a special order "and good luck if a lock smith could cut a eufy blank"

No where on the page for the lock did it state it was a fingerprint lock but it is to my surprise and absolutely NO APP needed to add finger prints. this entire lock with the exception of zwave is completely offline. You add the finger prints directly from the lock after you put in the master code it gives options including auto lock and away mode. It also appears to be Z-Wave LR so it's either the 700 or 800 series. so far i'm impressed and the lock is quiet in it's operation as well. Took a couple trys to get on the zwave controller but not bad at all. Didn't have to move the controller closer or anything

there is a door open or closed sensor but i'm assuming there is a seperate door sensor you would have to buy for that to work

Only had it on for like 30 minutes but already it ticks every single bell and btw the finger print seems to be very reactive. i had to wake the eufy up a couple of times before it would even respond but i'll see later when it goes to sleep
