Hi,
I want to use the HomeAssistant Connect ZBT-1 Stick (formerly known as Skyconnect) as a Thread Bridge on my Home Assistant Docker installation for which I need to flash the Firmware.
The "Update Firmware" Button on the official Website is broken, can someone help here?

Thank you!

ouch that is awkward, looks like that broke during the migration to the new knowledgebase
I flagged it, people that are more important than me will hopefully look at it. I cant suggest anything at this time but hopefully someone will jump in.
so apparently there is now a flasher tool directly baked in. it may be newer feature though so might have to update to see it? @rotund osprey
as for the website, the web guy is aware for it and it should be sorted out some time next week
Awesome! Thank you! Yeah this tool to flash seems to be quite new, but as far as I understood this is the only way to use the connect zbt as a thread bridge as long as one does not have Home Assistant OS (mine runs in docker on a qnap NAS) so I will try this flasher as soon as the website is fixed, thank you so much for your help!
Chances are very low that you can get a working Thread Border router on docker, especially since you're trying to do this on a QNAP NAS, with an outdated kernel and missing OS support. So even if you can get the dongle flashed:
- There is no official support from HA team for matter/thread on docker.
- There is no official thread border router container
- You are using a NAS OS as docker host, which is an absolute NO-GO
- but there is an official thread border router container: openthread/border-router as soon as I have this running I could simply configure HA to use this border router by IP of the container
- of course not, this is in the hands of the OpenThread community
- I will try to ignore… sounds like useless blaming… of course I could run another machine permanently, but why do so if it also works on one permanently running machine… there are already enough hubs and bridges and so on which are running permanently. Using the NAS for containers is a perfect combination, this way one can easily include container volumes into NAS backups.
But anyways: this has nothing to do with the topic

I get your point but Matter (over Thread) is a bit special and has some special requirements on the host OS, which all NAS operating systems are missing.
Thanks for the input, I will give it a try, but now I understand your concerns 😅🙃
The web-flasher was not available 6months ago, when using virtualisation it seemed to be the main resolution to solve an issue with home assistant not being able to flash the ZBT-1 through a virtual/linked usb device. I just gave up and bought a green since there where age old posts (and new posts) and tickets closed with the same issue without any resolution.
.......but there was a flasher application you could've used the entire time? the web flasher went down because it was the most idiot proof way to flash a zbt-1 on your computer and they did not want people plugging their zbt-1s into their computer and frying the thing. but if you knew what you were doing you could've used a cli flashing app.
