I have a yellow Home Assistant and am trying to create a simple automation and keep getting this

New automation setup failed
Your new automation has saved, but waiting for it to setup has timed out. This could be due to errors parsing your configuration.yaml, please check the configuration in developer tools. Your automation will not be visible until this is corrected, and automations are reloaded. Changes to area, category, or labels were not saved and must be reapplied.

if yes, stick to the UI until you learn the yaml.

You're missing all the default settings that make automations and additional areas of home assistant work

#

is there a reason why you removed all the defaults?

#

Is there a reason you're using yaml for your home assistant general settings too?

#

for all intents and purposes, you really shouldn't be editing configuration.yaml if you are very new to HA. Only edit it when you need to add something that is only available via YAML

#

Did you buy this yellow second hand or something?

#

When you install for the first time and get the device out of the box, it will have a default configuration.yaml file

#

Are you randomly following old guides or something?

#

Are you using the Yellow with a Compute Module 4 or 5?
