#Matter door lock asking for a code after setup. Not sure where to set one?

Its tucked away in the entity settings. So open the "more info" dialog of teh lock entity and then you can set the code
Hi what smart lock are you using? Is it fire rated?
Fire?
Fire-rated locks are designed to maintain functionality during high-temperature conditions, typically for 30 minutes to 4 hours, and comply with standards like Australian Standard AS1905.1 or Singapore’s fire safety regulations. These are often required for fire doors in apartments, strata buildings, or commercial properties.
It's just a yale lock on my front door
thanks ill check this out again and see whats there.
are you talking about this? i see thats where you add the code. how do you CREATE them?
when i add it directly to home assistant i dont see any way to create a code for it to use
when i add it via google home then side-add it to home assistant, the codes i create in google home work. but if i want to put it ONLY in home assistant, how do you create codes?
have you tried just changing it in that dialog
You cant create them in HA, we dont have that support yet
oh. so if i add it straight into matter on home assistant, how do you even use it then? lol that makes it impossible to use without adding it to google home first and then sharing it to home assistant
Most/all locks have a way to define usercodes without the need for a controller.
i see. in my case, when i put it into matter pairing mode, its doesnt use their app anymore, so whatever i add it to for Matter will take over.
i would have to share it to google home to get a button to create codes
hmm, ok... that is... lame...
The locks I have tested so far didnt have that limitation.
Anyways, its not something we can quickly fix. HA does not have a concept of managing user/lock codes at all. Its a very big missing piece that needs to be added
for this lock, its bluetooth, and then when you scan to setup, it redirects to google home, or another matter controller
so if you go straight to HA, then youre screwed lol
You can share it from HA to Google
yeah thats what i would have to do
On the device details page there is a button for that
i would have to test this, but i am curious if:
- setup in HA
- setup pin
- remove from google
- does pin still work?
