Home Assistant Voice PE pick all background discussions when starting conversation 💬

Here’s the scenario:

• There’s some background discussion happening, either a video or people talking.
• I use the wake-up word and ask to set up a timer.

Home Assistant Voice picks up the background discussion and uses it as part of my conversation with it by naming the timer after what was discussed in the background. It won’t start the timer until complete silence.

Is this a planned feature or is it possible for Home Assistant Voice to filter out other people’s voices besides the one who said the wake-up word?

yeah this is unfortunately a thing. filtering individial voices is not something thats really possible with the current tools.
you can try switching the "finished speaking detection" to agressive and this may help a little but its not going to be perfect

then theres the people who seem to wait for you to call the wake word beforre they start talking... its chaos

hopefully in the future tools will improve to the pojnt where this is less of an issue. but there's no timeline on this

Thanks for your message. I will look into GitHub issue to watch. For now I think https://github.com/esphome/home-assistant-voice-pe/issues/339 could solve this indirectly, because as soon you can do diarization you can know if it is the same personne talking.

yeah i know there has been some experimentation with this kind of feature but optimising it for the hardware is a mission in of itself

In the meantime I will try the change of the option to detect the end to aggressive.
