I have a set of fluorescent lights in my basement ran by a Single switch which is wired in without neutral. My dream is to install a smart switch as well as a motion sensor that interacts over zwave, that would activate these lights when motion is detected. Diving in I have found Lutron Caseta might be the Smart Switch I choose, As it does not require neutral, however I am confused on if I will need the Lutron Hub to interface with Home assistant.

The second part of this would be the motion sensor, I have very little knowledge When it comes to this technology so as part of my research. I am reaching out to the community.

How would go about Solving this problem?

Yes, To the best of my knowledge, it is just a loop As the switch only controls the lights . I haven't even started to look at smart relays ,

On a wiring diagram, you would put it on the switch loop?

depends on the relay but basically yes

#

you could put something like a shelly behind the light

#

then for a mmwave sensor something like this or this would work

#

set the shelly to use the switch changing position as a toggle annd then you can keep the switch which will trigger the relay even if the sensor or ha is down
