I am attempting to add my existing Ecobee Dev App to a DIFFERENT, family-owned Ecobee account. In the family account, I am able to "Add Application" however it is asking me for an Application PIN. I used this years ago with MY Ecobee account to get HA setup with my dev application. However I no longer can find this PIN. Where/what is this PIN?

this one is the one hooked up with home assistant

not used it myself but

on the documentation it shows
In the next pop-up box, you will be presented with a unique 8 character code separated by a dash (format: XXXX-XXXX), which you will need to authorize in the ecobee consumer portal. You can do this by logging in, selecting My Apps from the hamburger menu, clicking Add Application on the left, entering the PIN code from Home Assistant, clicking Validate and then Add Application in the bottom right.
this implies its some kind of pairing code to pair with the integration

well that's the kicker. the integration has assumed you only ever want/ need 1 intance. it forbids more than one.

i tried that

😦

then you probably cant have it linked to multiple accounts

# proper cove i tried that

are you virtualising? you could maybe spin up another HA instance, connect it on that then use "remote_homeassistant" from HACS and share the entities back to the main instance.

i know that sounds like a real mess but it "might" work?

I just want to see if I can get anywhere by opting the new ecobee account into the existing home assistant ecobee “app”

#

It is probably another dead end

#

I’ll try a demo HA install

#

I’m not willing to remove my working HA Ecobee cloud

Thanks for that remote share tip
