#2025 Home Assistant Community Day!!
1 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)

I can't participate this year as I'll be heading down to San Diego with my kids for a Wings of Fire event. I am interested in supporting a SF Bay Area meetup in the future though. If there are SF Bay Area folks out there feel to reach out to me directly.
Seems silly to pin the OP, but you know what I am just gonna not take any chances.
π
One moment while I post the links to the cities we already have set up in here and also pin them!
-# one moment turned into "I got distracted by like 4 other things and now I am doing this...."
Poland (city or cities TBD)
Brooklyn (Paulus is hosting this one!!)
Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul)
santiago, chile:)
Okay, I have a few more that I want to get in here before I log off for my work day. π
I'd love to host one in Los Angeles π
https://lu.ma/event/manage/evt-T2In9EBsNBF6o2I
Haven't compare the event list time-wise/time-zone-wise, so might be a very silly question... is there some online element or anything like that?
Hi all! I have submitted one for Chicago at my local hackerspace - https://lu.ma/ewfhmp4u
We actually have a semi-weekly home lab meeting and we often cover Home Assistant in it. Excited to participate in an actual HA community event.
Hello! I just created a Toronto, Ontario event! Would love to connect with other Torontonians and share our love of HA!
London always gets the exciting events, so I have set one up in Manchester (UK), as I am sure that there must be other Home Assistant users here. https://lu.ma/3bh9aji1
-# Don't mind me, just rolling through with some updates. π
UTRECHT IS FULL
People can still add their names to the waitlist, but it's also good to consider setting up a separate meetup in another city.
@short kite @wheat jacinth @vocal fjord @keen quartz Can you all add me as a manager to your event so that I can change the visibility to be on the HA calendar, pretty please? My email is missy.quarry@openhomefoundation.org.
Not to this, no, and this is kind of intentional! The goal is that the host has the flexibility to schedule it for whatever time of their day works best for them (or their venue of choice).
Since a lot of us employees are hosting in person events, we wouldn't be able to host an online event this year. However, if this is something you'd prefer, how would would expect the event be?
Just gonna pin that to make it easier for the future. π
Haha fair enough. I copied it out to a new message so that it would be easier on mobile to copy the email separately
I was thinking as I typed it "you know...it'd be easier if that was just in a message for itself...."

I am interested in creating one in Nashville, TN US. Is there anyone here who would also like to help organize with me? I may have a venue but waiting on OK.
Honestly, we can just have you create a placeholder one and see who has interest. Would you like me to blast on socials saying that Nashville could use some hosting help?
Yes! That would be amazing!
Go ahead and create an event on the site then - add me as a manager on your Overview page with the email here, and I'll make sure that it's showing up on the calendar.
I'll write down the specific stuff I will say for this event on social. π
Done!
I have a demo home automation display that I often setup at other events (I run a local robotics club) and thought that would be interesting for new folks. Would that be ok or is there a specific aesthetic that we need to stick to?
Totally fine! I think people would enjoy being inspired. π
done!
I'll host one in Washington, DC! Event here. Location TBD depending on how many people register!
EXCELLENT! Can you add me on as a manager so I can make sure it's added to the HA calendar, pretty please? Email is here: #1364989531069091920 message
Done! Maybe add that as part of the checklist on the (otherwise helpful and complete) announcement blog post?
Actually not a bad idea!
Thanks, @dawn sentinel! We got it added onto the steps for hosts. I'll get the forums OP updated now.
(PR is waiting on approval.) Blog post is now updated!
Newly added events - April 25
- Tokyo, Japan
- Espoo, Switzerland
- Lithuania
- Poland
- Manchester, UK
- Nashville, TN
- If you are able to co-host this event, please reach out to the hosts via Luma or let me know here.
- Berlin, Germany
- Toronto, Ontario
- Washington, DC
- Chicago, IL
- Knoxville, TN
Part 2 (before I log off for the weekend) - Leuven, Belgium
- Los Angeles, CA
- Metro Detroit, MI
There also seems to be one planned in Leuven, Belgium.
Yep, I just haven't updated all the lists yet. π
If I keep doing it as I get them, I will only be updating lists.
BUT I have them all in a checklist to make sure I don't miss them in my last update before I log off for the weekend. π
Anyone interested joining/co-hosting a meetup in the Eindhoven region?
Updated with a part 2 before I log off for the weekend. :3
Columbus, Ohio! https://lu.ma/c05easbv
@tardy plinth will the events list on the page be updated?
i feel like having the list of the initial events kinda gives a limited impression of scope and i already had someone at our makerspace ask why we werent listed on the HA blog post. i do get that it hasn't been updated since the initial post and most are supposed to use luma but im not sure people will get that at face value
https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2025/04/24/community-day/
We have healthy work life balances. π
Things will be updated, but when I logged off yesterday we had 30 events and a month still to go for people - it wonβt be sustainable to update the blog directly. Iβm trying to get the calendar embedded instead. But on Monday.
https://lu.ma/6mmrdm1n Come to chile;)
Hi all, we are very excited to be a part of community day. I created a meetup for Istanbul. https://lu.ma/nvpwk67s
We're in Limerick (Ireland), and would love to take part! https://lu.ma/7dt9a60b
There were NINE NEW EVENTS added over the weekend.
Just to make sure communication is open here - our copywriter is working on a few higher priority things that need to go out this week and can't focus on updating the blog with the embed until Wednesday at the earliest.
I'll be pointing people either here or the forums for the latest updates outside of the blog, and to the calendar for the latest confirmed events.
Good morning!! Could you also add me as a host so I can change the calendar visibility for you?
Done! Thank you π
Thank YOU! π
Thank you for the update! I totally understand that this is work for yβall so donβt sweat it.
Newly added events - April 28
Hosts may notice that I made the location set to requiring to register to view - this is mostly to prevent randos from showing up and encourage proper registration. π
I'm also going to draft up something to throw into descriptions. A common question already is "what should we be doing at these" and the honest answer is: As much as you want. The main goal is to get you all together. BUT to help give people thoughts on other things they can do, I will suggest people consider bringing their favorite projects to show off.
thanks for the support @tardy plinth
Newly added events - April 29
- Kyiv, Ukraine
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Winnipeg, Manitoba
- This event is scheduled for May 22nd, not the 24th - it is an exception to the May 24th rule. π
@tardy plinth I may have missed it, but are there any examples of what happened in previous years? Looking for some inspiration after I found our event space π
+1
This is the FIRST time weβve done this! I have absolutely no previous years for this to pull from.
What we (meaning Paulus and Franck lol) sometimes do, which is slightly different from a community meetup, is talk a little about roadmap or whatβs coming soon. For the community, Iβve been suggesting people have their favorite projects ready to talk about or show off.
Currently, Iβm trying to figure out suggestions for games that people could play. @visual hill is hosting our London meetup and gave me some solid ideas to chase. βΊοΈ
We are hosting ours at a brewery, so this is easy π
uhhh ... brewing managed by HA π
Thanks for the info, I may have to bug Frenck π€
@tardy plinth THIS should be the next "Works with Home Assistant"! π
We do know the HomeBrew guys! π
Newly added events - May 1st
Working on getting the blog post updated with the embed today, I think I'm just waiting for the update to be merged.
Blog post has been updated with the calendar embed.
jaja maybe this is better π sorry
Oh my goodness. π
I'm happy to see AI is not using the proper HA logo π we need real merch π
hahah yeah:) design is not part of my skills:)
Maybe we need a "Plays with Home Assistant" tee...?
The tees are a lot harder to do worldwide right now. But Iβm working on a new merch store overall so Iβll put these in line for designs.
Hosts should have an email from me to send me their addresses so I can send over stickers and the swag for this day.
Austin, Texas yall https://lu.ma/gwsf6mh0
Bratislava, Slovakia on the map https://lu.ma/2twgwtkd
We can manage to make some in our country.. So what about to make the same desing for the T-short?
T-shirts are not part of the swag this year - the reason why is because we don't have a merch store that has consistent enough printing to give people the quality of shirts we'd want for this. It's planned for next year, though.
I don't think it would be bad for specific meetups to print their shirts if they want, but I don't yet have a design to share with y'all for that.
Hello everyone,
A new appointment has been created!!
I'll be waiting for you in Lyon (France) from 6:00 PM until the early hours!
Newly added events - May 5th
-# Including the ones shared by hosts since my last update.
The hosts have asked that I amplify these events a little further.
If you're in either the DC or Los Angeles areas, these are the events for you!
Arnt you pushing your limit of splitting your self up?
This is a Multiplicity situation.
We got split Missys and each one has a different quirk.
chile has better wines!
I dunno, do yβall have a tempranillo? π
-# i might have said fighting words π«£
Do you want to make a multiplication of one drunk Missy?
Is the local drunkness transmitted or does the local missy has the acolhol resistance or all missys together.
This needs to be researched
@tardy plinth and others, I just created a Boston meetup for community day. Let me know if I misconfigured it: https://lu.ma/sfwky7mu
I'm off for today to chaperone my son's school field trip, so I will have more updates tomorrow.
I've just created a San Diego meetup for community day, looking forward to meeting other HA nerds!
Late to the party but setup a Bristol (UK) meeting. Looking forward to meeting other HA users.
@vagrant nova still no place for the meeting in utrecht? Perhaps we can book the library in my old student society. (Usc)
They have beer.
you were part of usc?
Yup. Not recommended for someone with undiagnosed autisme.
Added Surrey, UK yesterday. Perhaps some of those who tried to get in to the overbooked London event fancy a short trian ride. https://lu.ma/wc470n36
I am in the process of updating all the events and calendar now! :3
How many Horcrux do you need?
Oh. Now 73 74 others.
-# Some have been adding me as a Manager but not creating the events on the HA calendar page, lol. I find them in email. π
Anyone in North Dakota (USA) for a meetup?
https://lu.ma/orc019be
Newly added events - May 9th
-# Including events already shared in here.
- Ivrea, Italy
- Auckland, New Zealand
- Boca Raton, FL
- Bengaluru, India
- Ko Pha-ngan, Thailand
- Minot, ND
- Christchurch, New Zealand
- ShenZhen, China
- Surrey, England, GB
- Bristol, England, GB
- Boston, MA
- Portland, OR
- Las Vegas, NV
- San Diego, CA
- Guadalajara, Mexico
- OrlΓ©ans, France
- Buenos Aires, Argentina
- ThΓΌringen, Germany
- Johannesburg, South Africa
Just a general reminder that all event lists are pinned in this thread.
Hi Missy let me correct you, the meetup in Buenos Aires is in Argentina, not in Brazil. Im really happy with this event!!
Just a free field typo. Data of the location is correct. @tardy plinth i think you reached your Horcrux limit
π
I've edited it.
If you are a host, I have sent off an email today with swag instructions!
Vamos latin america!!!
Hello everyone, I'm the CTO of IoTorero (formerly Athom). We'd like to sponsor some products for this community event day free of charge, but it seems a bit late now since there are only ten days left before the event starts. Or do you have any good suggestions?π
Happy Tuesday!
Anybody in South Florida, Southwest Florida, or Central Florida looking for a meetup?
There will be Shelly loot if you register and come out!
Hi Aiden! Whatβs your fastest shipping times? It may be possible to provide something to events closer to yβall if those are higher.
Feel free to DM me. We can see if this is doable. π
@tardy plinth I'd like to print some circular stickers, but there are no assets in the folder you shared via email that lend themselves to a circular print. This one is available on the HA store but isn't in the assets folder. Can it be added?
By the way, I am struggling to find any local shops that will produce a single item of custom clothing; most have much higher minimum orders. Is it not possible for hosts to order (and be reimbursed) apparel (or stickers, for that matter) from the HA store and have the orders rushed in some way? (I understand that this might not be workable; hence the change from you all mailing swag directly to us being encouraged to produce locally.)
Third and final question: the email says that hosts will be reimbursed for "2 stickers per registered visitor, up to 200 CHF."
But we don't know how many registered visitors we will ultimately have on the day, so we probably want to err on the side of ordering extra. You seem to agree, saying that "ordering around 100 stickers is a good number." But will you still reimburse us for all 100 stickers, even if we only end up having, say, 20 registered attendees?
I actually don't even think we have that original asset anymore. π I have a folder with other formatting, one moment while I upload those. π
So, I will say that it's probably okay that you use the current store, but I'll also say that a lot of people are really unhappy with its quality and sometimes they don't get the products for weeks when it comes to shirts. Proceed with that knowledge, just to be prepared.
Some companies actually require a minimum purchase for stickers, too. I'll work with hosts for this one - I know stickers in particular are fairly cheap for just 100 pieces.
(I also ran the message past leadership before I sent it out, so they are aware that I said 100 pieces is probably good to order.)
Here is the folder with updated images for printing stickers. Laura is one of our colleagues hosting the Madrid meetup, but this is located in the Stickers folder in the Assets I shared yesterday. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1nYuK4mdmBm4Nu51d7j_KPjAnSwONgQhb
Those stickers are hilarious! I might see if I can get some of those printed
Will there be a find home assistant stickers contest may the 25th?
LOL
Post on social media and the most creative find wins a tshirt.
I think it would be cute to ask people to share photos of stickers of ours you find in the wild.
btw as a american when you write down LOL and say it out loud what do you guys say.
dutch just say lol. because that means having fun.
This is the second time someone attacked me for being American today.
-# joke
Personally, I do a cheeky "lul" when I say it. Others just ...you know...laugh I guess? They're weird..
sorry i did not mean it as a attack. just wondered. ( i used a mix of products today)
do you know what lul means in dutch?
LOL no one has actually attacked me about being American, I'm being hyperbolic. π
yes, yes I do. And it makes me say it more.
good for you. dont hold back on dutch telivision they dont beeb it out
If anyone is ordering stickers in the UK, I found that the local printers I tried in Manchester were expensive and their lead time was too long (12 days). I used StickerShop who were reasonably priced and could print and deliver quickly. With a bit more notice I would have tried to coordinate an order for all the UK events, which would have been much cheaper per sticker, but that is something for next time!
could we please have one asset in postcard format, which contains all 5 assets (include the custom cutlines) so we could let print sticker cards ... they cost nearly the same as a single sticker, but would contain all 5 motifs ^^
Requested!
Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh there are a few things that complicated this whole thing. Originally I was going to send everything out, then we ran into a complication with that, realized I'd need to ship to countries that may take forever to receive.
It's definitely noted for the next Community Day.
Is there anywhere that hosts can collaborate with each other to see what everyone is doing, come up with ideas, and discuss things as they come up?
We have a great list of events scheduled for the Columbus, Ohio meetup but now I want to know what others are doing!
Home Assistant Community Day 2025
TJ Huddleston with HomeTech.fm and Connect You are proud to support Home Assistant Community Day 2025 in Columbus, Ohio.β¦
Not that I have seen yet! I honestly didn't think of something like this until people started asking, so next Community Day I am going to make a private channel to add hosts to. π
I don't want to rush, but the sticker printing service has a delivery time of 5 working days π sooo do we've an ETA for the sticker card asset? π¬ π π
I poked!
2 files have been placed into the asset folder for Stickers. Clelia said she couldn't get it onto one file but added in a cut contour - important to note that the bleed is not in there. Please let me know if you need that bleed for printing, though.
if you meen the cutline with bleed, it is in the files or do i miss something? (I'm quite new to the sticker printing business π )
It's in the file! Clelia provides assets that are good for printing, so if your printer decides they suck, lemme know and we can adjust. π
order is placed, desired delivery date is Friday 23.5. π€
I'll say that in my experience, sticker printers are often faster than they estimate. so π€ !!
in my case.. eta was 5 days and take 2
π
wooooooooow!!!!!
I did something similar, cannot wait to get mine!
good luck every host !!!! lets crush the community day:)
nice π
has someone the classic / retro homeassistant rainbow logo as svg?
I tihnk there are people who will haunt your dreams if you use the old logo π
can you share files???
Yes! Do you have multicolor printer?
How can I share with you the files? Talk to me in Telegram, @wooden jay
te envie un pm
Oki
thanks!!
Old logo β€οΈ π
@dusty rivet okay how do we deal with this one? π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
jajajajaja
@tardy plinth I created an event last week and added you? as co-host, but it hasn't shown up yet. Let me know how this can be fixed!
https://lu.ma/9qimxuea
I haven't gone through and added new events since...I think Wednesday last week. I'm updating things today. π
Retro not old π
Ah, I see what happened! I don't have Manager access. If you give me that, I can update the event to be on the calendar. π
done
Awesome! Got it on the calendar.
Rat's Mouth is a bit far to go for Central FL...hoping someone does something in Orl, maybe at UCF or something.
100%, sir. I hope somebody in your area hosts something, but I am not turning away anybody and if you have to drive extra, I'll make sure you get extra loot as a thank you π
I do like the Shellys and have a variety.
I can't wait till I fit my new apartment with shelly devices
I loved Shelly so much that I joined the team almost 6 years ago π
hahah nice!
π there is a long, roundabout story that concerns me going to work for Shelly and this very Discord server, but this isn't the thread for it. I should remember to share it on Saturday!
π
"It's amazing to live in a small country, but sometimes I miss the opportunity of working in small companies."
or startups
Theyβre so good omg.
AAAAANNNNNND my shirt is here, too!
I'd love to go. It sounds like it would be a great time sharing HA stories, but a 3 hour drive down there is just not in the cards for this weekend. Maybe next time.
Miss, you still have the card in your neck
"my" are still on the way ... I hope they will arrive in time π€
I actually forgot I had it on the rest of the day, too. Until I went to pick up my niece and it slapped the back of my head.
Newly added events - May 22
- Perpignan, France
- Ghent, Belgium
- Andernach, Germany
- Alba, Italy
- Solkan, Slovenia
- Berwyn, PA (Western Mainline)
- Timisoara, Romania
- Lagos, Nigeria
And I want to call out an update to the Bay Area meetup. They have split out their Hackathon and Community Day events - their Hackathon is tomorrow night. If you signed up for their event, make sure you register for the Community Day event again!
That's my last update for events before the actual day!
Hosts should have received an email from me earlier (if you're like @vagrant nova, you got a giant waving hand attached to it). If anyone in here not a host attends a meeting, please share photos here with me so I can use them for the blog post! And if you post anything on socials, please use #HADay2025 so I can find it.
ππ»
Finally they arrived π₯³
@tardy plinth can you help with an svg from the retro rainbow logo?
No, I canβt. I donβt think we even have it anymore (we just cancelled the product we used years ago to make it), but we also donβt want the old logo out there outside of our store merch right now.
I may be able to get our designer to do an updated version with the new logo - especially since weβre coming up on Pride Month in June. But that means we wonβt have it in time for these meetups. π
The Chicago meetup will (should) have some snacks, and a raffle for some free gear graciously donated by Apollo Automation, and (indirectly) Athom. There will also be tours of our hacker space.
If youβre in Slovenia or Italy, the Shelly Wave team is hosting a meetup at our office in Solkan:
Also, if youβre in South Florida, come by our meetup in Boca Raton! If meeting other HA users is persuasive but not convinced yet, weβll, there will also be merch from Shelly (and free Mini 1 Gen3 relays):
Look at all those tool bags of merch!
Happy community day!
π
Sweet!

Stickers well spend
Greetings from Porto, Portugal! It was a really nice day!
The Brooklyn NYC meetup was fun! Really hoping to see a bunch of the people there again :)
#haday2025 was a success in Columbus, Ohio. We had products from Zooz, Inovelli, Apollo Automation, and Reolink that we gave away. It was great meeting fellow HA users and talking about the products we used, what works best, and anything else that came up π

Good morning Friends. How can I get the photos of the Home Assistant Community Day Meetup Madrid 2025? Thank yoy so much! Best regards.
I am actually drafting the recap blog for next week as we speak, good timing! This is the photo that Laura shared with me - I haven't yet looked on socials for event photos, so it's possible there are more!
btw - I've started submitting reimbursements for hosts who have requested it. I should be through everyone by tomorrow, so if you haven't heard back from me yet you will!
Damn, missed this one. π±
I'll be there for the next one then! π©΅
Utrecht was packed.
