I've bought a house that has Gardena 1251 valves to control irrigation in the garden. It's equipped with reprogrammed controllers. I would like to have my irrigation controlled from HA. I need advice what should I do. The options I see:
- Buying Bluetooth controllers Gardena 1287. Easiest from the hardware point of view, but those controllers are waking up for 2-4 seconds every 15-30 minutes, so controlling will be very tricky. It's pretty much the same as I have now - reprogramming but with my phone instead of the device.
- Replacing completely the valves with Zigbee valves. Easiest on software side, but challenging on hardware side.
- I found out that controlling the valve is done by applying 9V for 250ms and closing the valve is done by applying 2.5V for 62ms in reverse polarity. So I could use Esp8266 or similar to control the valves. The down side is that I can only use battery power there, so Zigbee would be much better.
Whay do you guys recommend me to do?
