I have a old surface pro 3 lap top the ssd has failed I can boot up on a old usb/ssd and a usb with mint on it. I have put the Iso for HA on a usb and it only comes up to command line...

looks like you have installed the server and its up, you access it in a browser from another machine
if you want to use that ssystem as a front end then you will want to install the server on another machine and then use a normal OS with a browser on that system to access your server

the green is a great device as a starting point I have a write up of my thoughts on hardware.
it really depends what your plans are. the green will definetly run most basic smarthomes without any issues
