Quick question:

I have my HA instance in a RPi 4 8Gb RAM, with a 240Gb SSD

I have multiple Atom Echos one for each division, and a HA Voice Preview in the Entrance

What's the benefits of setting up satellites instead of each device being independent and assigned to his own Area?

Not sure I follow, sattelites are independent devices and would be assigned to whatever area they are in to have context-aware commands/control ๐Ÿ˜…

So the satellites run the wake word locally, using MicroWakeWord. The actual command processing is done by the HA Assistant Pipeline. However, the satellite itself is a device in HA, and can be assigned to an area. WHen it is, it passes that area along as context so if you say "Turn on the lights" it knows you mean to turn on the lights in the area the satellite is in.

but not sure what you mean by "Satellite" versus "Independent device"?

Maybe it was some confusion with the terms that people used

#

Something like Satellites being multiple physical devices all sharing the same central brain vs each device doing its own thing

#

One could be okay nabu, the other alexa, the other hey jarvis... etc

#

i guess it all comes down if they all use the same pipeline or different pipelines

Yeah, you'd always have a single HA central instance, and the satellites connect to that.

#

You can choose different pipelines for each satellite if desired, as well as different wake words.

#

I certainly wouldn't make each "satellite" it's own HA instance if that is what they are referring to, that'd make no sense ๐Ÿ˜…

I found out what my confusion was.!
It was with Assist Satallite..

They do call Satallite to media players without the ability to listen just to reproduce the sounds of Assist
