#Nanoleaf Essentials matter pairing code

Probably a question better suited to Nanoleaf themselves, but figure it's worth asking here as anywhere.

I've got a few Nanoleaf devices setup now, some LED tape and a string of garden lights over Wifi, namely. I've also picked up 3 Matter over Thread bulbs from their essentials range. The matter over thread setup works using HA as a border router with a zbt-1 for the network.

The bulbs each have a QR code on with 8 digits at the top, and an "ID" field at the bottom, as well as the serial number.

The HA companion app wants an 11 or 21 digit pairing code from the device, but I don't see any way to get one. The Nanoleaf app offers no way to extract such a pairing code. Scanning the QR code simply fails with "Something went wrong" and "Try again or continue without scanning". If I continue without scanning, it asks for that 11 or 21 digit code.

Is there an easy solution to this? Or indeed any solution at all?

Probably worth my clarifying that I'm not using HomeKit or anything. I setup via Bluetooth into the Nanoleaf app, then connected using that same app to the HA border router.

Are you sure you got the Matter Essential bulbs and not the Homekit ones ?
There should be a QR code in the box to scan and otherwise its also on the bulb but horrible to scan, manually typing over the code underneath works better.

That said, Nanoleaf bulbs using Matter over Thread are not known for their stability. Many (HA) users have already given up on them. A better more stable alternative is the Aqara T2 lineup (Matter over Thread but also switchable to zigbee mode) or Nanoleaf Wifi products.

The bulbs I have are labelled A60 B22, they do specifical claim to work with Apple Homekit, but I'm pretty sure they are specifically Matter over Thread. At the very least they are 100% connected to my thread network (they only have Bluetooth and thread, and with Bluetooth disabled I can still control them via Thread).

There should be a Matter logo on them

I think you've got the Apple homekit ones

Yeah, it should say Matter

In theory, if I had an Apple TV with Thread support, I could add them to HomeKit on that, then still hook them up to HA, right?

#

I've just ordered a pack of the Matter specfic ones, but feel like sending these ones back would be a bit cheeky given they've had a few days use already 😂

Nope, once added to Apple Home, you cant share them to HA.
You could try the homekit controller integration but that is a bit hard to setup for thread based devices, if not impossible.
