It does recognize doors as security devices though

It seems to be intentional. I guess it makes sense if you think about opening/closing windows as affecting overall the temperature of the area 🤷

In florida we never open windows, its too humid. 😂

Perhaps changing the entity's Show As to something different would be acceptable. Instead of showing it as a window, perhaps setting it to Problem, Safety, or Tamper.
(I'm not sure how the Areas dashboard will handle this as I don't use it myself.)

I will have to try that, it is picking up the window sensor from the alarm panel
