I currently have two NFC tags by my front door:
- One to toggle the garage door
- One to trigger the vacuum to clean the house
I do have the vacuum set up to automatically clean when the house detects that myself and my dog have left, but it's more reliable to start it manually (it starts a few minutes earlier, and the area detection is spotty)
I'd like to replace the NFC tags with something else to reduce the friction of tapping my phone against them.
I'm currently looking at the 'Philips hue tap dial switch (rotary)': https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-929003500201-Switch-Customisable-Accessories/dp/B0B2PSDNV1/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1
This has 4 buttons + a rotary dial, which is excessive for the exact functionality I need, but would also be useful to allow for quick manual control over the brightness at the doorway, which I have been using voice controls for up to now.
- Is this a good product? It has good reviews, but it's quite expensive (~$92)
- Can I use this within home assistant to trigger automations? I can do so with the 'Philips hue dimmer switch/remote'.
- Are there solid cheap standalone button options as an alternative? (~$15 per button? It doesn't feel like they should cost that much more than that)
