#Which adapter? SLZB-06 variations
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
@marsh isle I'm using the SLZB-06M with 7 Zigbee devices and have never had a problem with it. I have mine setup for ZHA.
The ZHA site has recommendations: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#recommended-zigbee-radio-adapters-and-modules
All the adapters they recommend are based on EFR32MG21/CC2652 which is what the SLZB-06M/SLZB-06 have. The M is apparently "stronger".
I use it a SLZB-06 via PoE with Zigbee2MQTT and I can recommend it.
Goot to know! I have the ZHA setup (on HAOS) as well.
Thanks for the helpful link! looking it over now.
Just an fyi -- the HA/Zigbee page doesn't list SLZB-06... (I assume they did before? I've seen tons of recommendations for it from other users.) They currently list the SLZB-07. Looks like it has the EFR32 chip, smaller body, more shielding (maybe?), and no more PoE (USB only).
It's CC26* based. It doesn't need to be listed.
Since I've already got the ZBT-1 directly connected to HAOS laptop, would I be able to use the SLZB as a type of zigbee repeater to extend the signal? Or would this act more as a 2nd dongle/hub for zigbee devices? (i.e. I wouldn't need to unpair devices from ZBT & pair to SLZB.)
You can do both depending on firmware but that's kind of a waste. Just buy a power plug for routing purposes.
A power plug?
Yep. Most mains powered devices act as routers.
Most of my devices are battery powered. (light switches, leak sensors, motion sensors.)
You should get something like this then to have a proper mesh.
Wait, just thought of something... What about Hue bulbs (on the main floor)? I have them on a hue bridge -- would the bulbs act as routers? I'm tired of playing hide-n-seek with zigbee switches in the basement. LOL
Yep.
