Anyone?
You will need a Zigbee stick, such as the Home Assistant ZBT-1.
Connect that to your Home Assistant box and then you can use the ZHA integration (short for Zigbee Home Automation) to communicate with all your zigbee devices.
i don't know what zigbee is
and i don't think that i need that
my philips hue light just have bluetooth
Philips Hue bulbs primary use a radio technology called zigbee. It's a special (low power) radio protocol for IoT devices, Bluetooth has a very limited range and is more for one-off control with your phone when nearby. Newer generation Philips Hue bulbs added Bluetooth as additional connection method to make it easier for people to start. The Philips Hue bridge uses Zigbee to communicate with the bulbs.
You now have 3 options:
-
fill your house with bluetooth antennas or ESPHome bluetooth proxies and start using a custom component to use the Philips Hue bulbs over Bluetooth.
-
Add zigbee to your house (with purchasing a skyconnect stick for example) and add the lights using zigbee to cover your entire house.
-
Purchase the Hue bridge (you can find them cheap second hand even) and use the Hue integration in HA. This is the most user friendly and plug and play solution.
My Philips hue lights are from 2020
does that make sense?
