#Home assistant yellow - does it support matter?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It is compatible to Matter over IP. And it can either use Zigbee or Matter over Thread. To use both, an additional radio stick would be needed.
How do I switch it?
Can this bulb communicate locally over my wifi?
So I could do matter over IP?
I suppose returning it and going 100% zigbee makes more sense
Oh, you were talking about some unknown bulb and not the HA Yellow.
Was a bit distracted by your topic description.
Without knowing anything about the bulb except that picture, it uses Zigbee.
It might use Matter over Thread somewhen in the future, but it does not support Matter over WiFi/IP.
This bulb, with the HA yellow
But yeah description was crap
I think I am better returning this bulb and getting some zigbee bulbs
I have a HA yellow, if I get the zigbee bulbs from ikea, I should be good to go...
WIZ are not Zigbee, they are WiFi.
And there is a dedicated WIZ integration, so no need to use Matter.
Does it need a wiz hub, or does it use the cloud? Thanks for this by the way, I hope to contribute
I was drawn by the matter logo, not wiz
They need no hub. And they can be controlled locally.
HA yellow said matter, bulb said matter, bada bing bada boom
Nice! Let me give that a try
Thank you
Just keep in mind, that many WiFi devices might strain your network.
