#Create a energy group (sum) sensor

Hi,

I've multiple electrical covers in my house. Each one has an energy sensor.
I would like to show them in the energy dashboard, but I think there is no benefit in adding every single room.
So I added a combination sensor with "sum" .

After adding this sensor to the energy dashboard I get this error messages (see screenshot).
The text means translated (sorry I changed the ha language, but it did not change):
"Unexpected device class: The following entity has not the expected device class: sensor.alle_rollos_energie"

"Last reset missing: The following entities has the device class "mesurement", but last_reset is missing".

Can I fix this issue or is it not possible to add this helper to the energy dashboard?

I advise that you don't do this.

Statistics doesn't work well with templates that are combinations of other sensors, due to reset rules.

You could if you want to, but it might have problems. You would need to check why the combined sensor has the wrong device_class and state_class.

To piggyback on this question - i have a three phase energy meter (Shelly) for a heat pump and would like to add them together, do you think it could work as the device resets at the same time? Or itd be still inadvisable? (Yes, run into the same problem as OP)

Hmm, seems like a good tool, but seems to convert power into energy, i already have an energy counter in the shelly device

no you can also add energy sensors

Will try, thanks. For now I added last_reset - and take it from one of the sensors) to the template and it seems to be working so far
