I am trying to find a reliable way to receive a message in case of emergency and I am outside my house. My HA is accessible via wireguard, but I am not 100% with my phone on wireguard. Phone notifications in general I receive only when I connect to wireguard, so I am trying to think of a better way.
I saw some people using Telegram bot as a solution which is something similar to what I want, but I don't want to rely on Telegram, Slack, Discord, etc. Does someone has a different approach?

you could subscribe and use home assistant cloud to be able to access without vpn.
you could expose your HA directly so its accessible without VPN.
you could look at twilio. its still a service which you would be depending on but it can send notifications by SMS or phone call. if your only using it for emergency stuff then it probably wont cost that much
you might be able to rig something up with a sim card or to a voice line to do call/sms directly too. but thats a bit more involved i guess
