that there are devices that need an internet account and be logged in for them to work with our home automation systems?? (EG: HA, esphome, etc)
One (MORE) case here .... mfr claims no need for the account/login after setup. I had the device completely unplugged over the week or so while doing some work, and I get an email from the mfr noting the device was 'off line'. !!!!!! This is B.S.!!

I think they meant that HA abs ESP home are examples of our automation systems, not devices that need logins.
