Do you guys have any thoughts on tubez vs smlight? Trying to figure out which is the best zigbee coordinator for me, considering I am running HA as a docker on a hypervisor I am leaning towards a POE model instead of usb since it will be much easier to pass the IP vs passing a usb device to the app.

I make and sell the TubesZB stuff so happy to answer any questions.. smlight’s firmware can do a bit more than mine which is based on ESPHome. I’m US based too

lmao, I knew you were in here, you are actually the one who turned me onto tubez if I remember

#

so for my needs which one of your products would you recommend?

#

also if I remember correctly yours does not support having multiple ethernet units used to give signal to multiple buildings.

#

also feel free to @me, in so many channels I miss a lot of notifications lol

@amber pagoda this isn’t a limitation of my devices, it’s a limitation of the zigbee network design. If you need zigbee in multiple buildings which can not be reached by a single network you are better off creating multiple networks with a network connected coordinator in each location, you could centrally run multiple zigbee2mqtt instances.

#

Thread and the principal of border routers is essentially what you describe, though even there I’m not sure it was developed with 1 network to multiple buildings in mind.

correct - you could do one with ZHA and one with Zigbee2MQTT, or run 2 instances of zigbee2mqtt (a bit more complicated).

MGM24 - it's the best radio right now and is well supported with zha and z2m. re stocking by the end of the week if not sooner

Awesome thanks. I am moving in a bit over a month so on top of doing a lab overhaul (massive downsize with some upgrades ones I can sell enough extra hardware to afford it) I am planning to finally start playing with HA.
