Hi, I want to install motion activated light switches in the stairway. There are 2 stairways so 2 lights, one for each stairway. Each light is controlled by two switches so both lights are 3-way light switches. I will need at least two motion sensors, possibly 3 if the one in first stairway cannot sense motion at the bottom of the stairs (since if the first stairway light is turned on, you can see enough to start walking up the second stairway). For now I assumed I need 3 motion sensor controlled light switches.

What I really want is integrated motion activated light switch which is also Zigbee compatible (but not closed or problematic like Aqara, for example, from what I have gathered). I want the lights to be controlled stand-alone, even if there is no Home Assistant running or any other hub. However at the same time I would like to also be able to see and control the sensors and switches through Home Assistant over Zigbee.

I tried searching on Internet and on Discord but cannot seem to find a list of devices I can purchase, it's all a bit confusing. Do you have recommendations?

Also, if you can recommend non-integrated motion sensor + switch that also works without any hub/Home Assistant but also uses Zigbee, I am open to that also.

I could not find anything so I just went with Aqara P1 Motion Sensors and just using Home Assistant. They work great. Integrate without issues. I am also using Aqara T1 relays.

Oh i've only now seen your thread

#

Im going to do this with IKEA Vallhorn for motion sensors, and Rodret for dimming and remote on/off

#

for now i wont change the wall commuters to intelligent ones (ill leave them always on and control with automations or remote) but maybe in the future ill install some Sonoff mini zigbee inside the wall so i can both use with remote and buttons.

I put Aqara T1 relays with neutral in the ceiling behind the lights. It is less complicated than smart switches because I had two 3-way light switches and it would be a pain to swap them for the smart switches.

Im considering these: Sonoff ZBMINIL2

#

To maintain normal switches that bypass the relay

#

and have the relay to control when needed with automation

#

All my things are zigbee whenever possible 😄

I have this ones, with IKEA app or similars they dont seem to be that great, but over Zigbee2MQTT they work very well and are fairly inexpensive
