I went to play some music the other day and instead of just grabbing a bluetooth speaker and hooking it to my phone I decided to jump down a rabbit hole of "how do I get Home Assistant to play music." My wife's wanting to pull the plug on all of our Alexa devices so those are possibly going out the door and music playback is a big use of them. I've ordered one Voice Preview Edition (which, honestly, I think she's going to hate and then go back to Alexa....), but I'm curious...what do y'all use for media players with HA? I think Sonos is overpriced...what other options are there?

if your already going for a PE then you can use that as a media player. the built in speaker is limited but it has a 3.5mm line out so you can rif it to whatever speaker setup you like

if your looking for something small to sit next to the PE, i can recomend the Anker Soundcore mini just be sure to use separate power supplies for them or use an isolation transformer on the 3.5mm cable to prevent a ground loop

👍 - also looking for additional players. Something that could be used either if we keep alexa (since I can't send audio to them) or until I decide to acquire more voice previews.

Bonus points if anyone can recommend a good soundbar/subwoofer combo that integrates well with Home Assistant, since I need one of those for our living room setup anyways.
