look at the memory usage graph inside home assistant for more accurate usage stats
it counts cached stuff as ram usage

Ah okay thanks, so Home Assistant says 3.6GB, is 12GB excessive then?
yeah 12 is pretty excessive for the most part. but i guess it depends on what your doing. if you have a ton of addons running extra apps/services you might need more.
I'd recommend you use the glances addon to check usage inside. Use z to show processes and m to sort by memory. Give the VM 4G/6G (min/max) or so depending on what you actually use and increase if needed. There is usually no problem with overallocating cores but it feels kinda wrong to give HA so many.
