#What cheap, Alexa-capable device has the most toggle-able actions?

I realised earlier than I can toggle eg an Ikea or SmartLife smart plug from Alexa, and use that to trigger automations in Home Assistant

It’s no substitute for proper connectivity but it got me thinking what else I could potentially use for this purpose rather than having a row of smart plugs, one for each automation I’d want to trigger

What hardware would you use if your goal was to have half a dozen toggle-able items that you could turn on from Alexa to trigger an automation? Right now my idea would require 6 smart plugs in an extension cord…. Not exactly a neat solution

there are better ways of doing this

#

expose stuff to alexa using NC cloud
or
have the automation trigger from a webhook and then create a manual alexa action to hit the webhook

I know NC Cloud is the "right" solution, but while I'm tinkering I can't really justify paying for a service until I know what I'm gonna use long term

I cant remember exactly what amazon calles it... "Routine" maybe? probably burried in the alexa app somewhere.

I would suggest that if you were considering buying a bunch of smartplugs to sit as an inbetween then a NC sub is likely compariable costs. there is alsoa trial so you can test it for a month and see how you like it

I'm not really considering buying a bunch, just wondering if there was something like a smart extension for $20 that I could've used for it - eg individually switched sockets
