whats wrong with tuya?

its cheap/nasty full of preparatory stuff that's breaks stuff all the time.

#

is it possible to get working? sure. would it be totally stable? maybe not. how long will it take to get working? too long

#

short version is: tuya devices always have problems and are not worth the effort to try and use. get something better

Ah. I see. I will pass on it then. Thanks!

no worries. a lot of people see them for cheap and try them out but they end up sinking loads of time into it for something that barely works

It makes sense. It looks like Tuya devices are subcontracted and cobbled together with off the shelf components from 3rd party vendors. That business model works just fine for a lot of products, but wouldn't for thread.

Not at this time, anyway

yeah tuya is an ecosystem built by the cheapest bidders with their slop put on top

Wow. So their software integrations are really that bad?

I had a Zigbee version of a very similar looking tuya notion sensor and it was hot dog water. For some reason, motion sensors are one of the hardest devices to find good ones of. It's definitely a device type that I'd recommend being willing to spend a bit extra on and not try to cheap out
