#Setup VLC via Remote Access to HA

you can launch vlc with remote telnet control then control it with the core integration "VLC media player via Telnet"
There is no telnet option in android vlc app
oh right i think i misundestood what you meant. i just had a quick look and it seems like there is a OTP on connections so building something might be tricky. maybe someone will have a go though. but to my knowledge its not currently something anyone has built.
what is your actual use case? maybe there is another way to do what your trying to do
Yes, sure, should have started with that initially. I've one stationary (or secondary) android phone connected to Bluetooth speakers, this phone is fixed at one location. I've installed vlc and HA on it. I play songs/notifications/sounds through this phone and since it's connected to bt speakers, the sound plays on these speakers. My use case is, how can i play songs thru this secondary/fixated phone remotely, say, through my primary phone? Currently i play songs by accessing this secondary phone physically. Thought that vlc remote access is now available, so i can play songs remotely by adding it as a music player in MA in HA. My music library is on smb drive and is part of media in HA.
have you looked at "fully kiosk" its designed for turning an android device into a web kiosk. however one of the things it does is that it can turn the device into a media player. then just use that instead of the vlc app to play stuff to
i have a tablet set up as a kiosk in the kitchen (yes it needs to be neatened up in terms of cable)
fully kiosk integration gives media player
can expose that media player to music assistant and your in business
I see, no, i haven't explored such options yet. I've Samsung S10e (secondary) phone and connected to cheap/dumb didplay thru Dex
Oh and i use this secondary phone's back cam as an IP cam, capture rtsp stream in Frigate nvr. Not sure if i turn my phone into 'full kiosk' mode, whether i'll lose this ip cam functionality or not.
you can still run other stuff in the background
