Hi,
I try to integrate my Pihole installation in Home Assistant. All tutorials i found tell me to integrate enter an API but Home Assistant dont ask for an API key. i just enter die IP & Port. and then the configuration is finished. but when i try to get stats i get an error that "the action couldnt be executed". Weird is also that i cant even get an API Key from Pihole.
Someone knows how to solve this?

pihole released version 6. Version 6 has a new API and it is not yet supported in Home Assistant

there is a newer custom integration that works with v6 (not backward compatible with prior versions) that you can install using a custom repo on hacs - https://github.com/bastgau/ha-pi-hole-v6

Anyone know if the official integration has been fixed or if the HACS option is still the only way forward when you’re on v6? Looking to add in the integration but not sure which I have to go with….

the HACS integration is still the way to go, however a fix is on the way. there is a PR open but its got some issues to work out. no timeline but you can keep an eye on the PR for progress updates
