I am the owner of a Volvo EX30 electric car. This is a car that uses the Google Automotive OS, not Android Auto.
I could install the companion app from the play store. I am able to login to my nabu casa account and my car is registered in my HA.
The thing is that all entities are disabled. I have gone into the car OS settings to give access to the companion app. In the companion app itself there are no settings.
Also the companion app in the car doesn't display my dashboard(s). Only some basic switches.
I suppose that the companion app for Google Automotive is still in development, or that special development for the Volvo EX30 is needed?
Can anyone confirm this to me? At the moment I use the chrome browser from the car to access my HA

Google does not allow dashboards. For enabling sensors you can refer to the docs that go over all features
Thanks for the information.
I am unable to enable the disabled sensors and diagnostics. Is this due to the car or due to AAOS?
You should enable them on the server (click on a disabled sensor > cogwheel > switch Enabled on). They'll first show as unavailable, but start sending the data the next time the app syncs.
The car/Android Automotive don't allow changing them from the app itself, that's all
See the linked page at the bottom, "Installed from the Play Store".
If that doesn't work for you, at which step do you get stuck?
Thanks for your input. I was looking at it completely wrong.
I was looking into a way of enabling the sensors in the companion app in the car. I didn't enable them in HA first.
I have done so now and will see what happens the first time I will drive.
When does the companion app updates? Only when it is open?
I went into the setting of the car apps and gave HA access to all sensors and gave all the special permissions. But it appears the only when the app is open or when I hit the refresh button in the upper right corner data is refreshed.
Update what? The entities on the dashboard should update when the state changes. Sensors yes you need to open the app for the car specific sensors to update. The docs linked above should explain how that works.
