#Recommendations for GU10 bulbs (colour)

Hi, I am installing 7 new GU10 spots this week and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for bulbs?

I have been used hue lights in the past which work well but they’re a bit expensive.

My current best option I’ve found is the IKEA bulbs in terms of price/performance but their integration with HA is a bit shoddy.

Does anyone have any other recommendations?
I would like them to do colour too.

I live in the UK

And some Ikea connected to HA through Ikea bridge

although i havent used them i beleive that ikea stuff is mostly zigbee. you could scrap the ikea bridge and use a use a better zigbee adaptor

#

hue might also be zigbee but i am not sure

I bought (and still have) a zigbee for that exact reason. The issue is the bulbs would constantly play up when trying to use them via a smart switch, they’d turn on at whatever brightness they want regardless of what I said.

#

So I just went back to using the bridge to save my brain

#

I just wondered if there were any better quality bulbs that weren’t hue priced

i have a couple of shelly gu10 wifi bulbs but they are not cheap

How much are they per bulb? The Ikea are £7 whereas the hue are £40 ish

they were around the 13-15 quid i think but that addds up quickly if your putting a load in

#

what you could try instead of just sending "switch on" you should "activate scene" and you have a scene set up with the brightness you want them to come on at

#

i would definetly try to get your zigbee stuff working more smoothly though first.

#

you should be able to set all the settings within a scene and when activating it HA will set them all

#

a scene saves as many settings as you want

#

you set all the settings in the live edit mode and it saves exactly how you have it set

# prisma sand you should be able to set all the settings within a scene and when activating it...

I have used scenes like that before for my hue bulbs (connected via zigbee) or my ikea bulbs (through the hub) and they've worked perfectly. When i connected the ikea bulbs through zigbee however, the scenes would only change one of the things i tell it too (either brightness, colour or temp), even though they work fine connected through the ikea hub. I think i read that it is a known issue. The only work around i could get to work was to make it change all 3 seperately, but there was a delay between each action happening which wasnt ideal.

when you activate a home assistant scene you dont specify anything

you activate what you previously saved for all the devices with all their settings that were previously specificed

#

is it possible your confusing a scene with a group?

vast silo
#

I dont think i explained it very well. when you trigger a scene with multiple changes, it only changes one of the things you ask it too e.g. colour OR brightness but never both.

#

can you post the yaml of the automation your using for activating the scene?

#

its worth exploring a little bit to be sure before you invest in new hardware

vast silo
#

Yes i will do

that's an issue only with the ikea white spectrum bulbs. Their full-color bulbs do support concurrent color+brightness transitions.

#

still pretty annoying tho. i have a few of the affected bulbs, and ended up writing a ha script to do a "transition" that changes brightness and color temp separately :/
